Matthew Carr is a Member of ENZ and Principal Engineer.
After finishing his Mechanical Engineering degree at Auckland University Matthew worked on the Tongariro Hydro Scheme at the Rangipo Dam site.

Matthew joined MEL in 1987. Two years later he was made a partner in the firm. In 2007 Matthew took sole ownership.
Craig Young started out at MEL after completing a Diploma in Electrical Engineering. In his early years he went onsite to learn commissioning.
​
The knowledge Craig picked up onsite become a great asset. Craig is a fantastic Draughtsman who designs HVAC and electrical systems.
​
Along the way Craig completed a Building Science Degree at Victoria University and a member of ENZ.
Fraser Thackeray, Building Services Designer

Fraser started out working on the draughting desk and in other areas at Pilkington Automotive. He started at MEL learning commissioning before progressing to a Senior Commissioning Technician.

Fraser completed a CIVIL Engineering Diploma before starting out at MEL. He also finished off a Mechanical Engineering Diploma while working at MEL.
​
Fraser designs building services, draughts shop & as built drawings, writes operating and maintenance manuals and occasionally heads to site to apply his commissioning experience.
Jason Clough, Assistant Engineer
Jason has a background in industrial and commercial refrigeration and has his own company, Coolcare Limited. Jason works on contract for Mechanical Environmental Limited in a full time role.

Jason has the perfect blend of academic and practical skills with NZ Certificate in Engineering (HVAC) - Central Institute of Technology - 1994, Trade Apprenticeship (Refrigeration and Air Conditioning) – NZEIT - 1997 and Building Services Controls (Proprietary for Hardware and Software) - York Based Control Systems - 2002. Jason is also self taught in the AutoCAD MEP, Autodesk REVIT & Autodesk INVENTOR.

Jason assists in design, 3D modelling in Revit.

Andrew Fuller, Senior Commissioning Engineer

Andrew joined Mechanical Environmental in March 2020 following a distinguished career at Airlab managing the Wellington branch office.
Andrew has been involved in commissioning for over 30 years and is an experienced Commissioning Engineer with grade 4 CSA training. Andrew is an IQP for the Manawatu area for SS9 & SS11 building compliance.
He has on a wide variety of buildings from commissioning the first underwater bedroom to validating operating theatres / cleanrooms.
Kian McHardy, Assist Engineer, Draughting Technician
Kian completed a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering in 2020 at Wellington Institute of technology and is currently completing a Bachelor of Engineering Technology.

Kian is presently part time and is starting with draughting, and will progress into building services design as he gains experience.
